Disciples of Christ Historical Society will host in September the Joe and Nancy Stalcup Seminar for Congregational Historians. Designed to equip you for the ministry of congregational history-keeping, the two-day conference addresses a range of skills and tasks necessary to preserve and pass on your church’s story. Sessions include:
–why keeping history alive is vital to your congregation’s health
–identifying and preserving historically significant material
–digitizing and indexing photographs
–how to research in local community archives
–building a website on a small budget
–celebrating special occasions
–research your history in our archives
–morning devotions designed to inspire you for the ministry of history
–plus, network with other congregational historians to share tips, ideas, information and best practices.
The Stalcup Seminar will be held in the T. W. Phillips Memorial, the Society’s beautiful home, September 24-26, 2008. We will begin at 7pm on Thursday, September 24 and conclude after lunch on Saturday. Registration fee of $100.00 includes materials and two lunches. Housing for the event is at Scarritt-Bennett Center (www.scarrittbennett.org), across 19th Avenue from our facility. Double-occupancy rooms with shared bath and two breakfasts may be reserved for $150.00.
