One thought on “Phillips’ Campbellism Exposed on Google Books

  1. Several polemicists attempted to “expose” what they called “Campbellism” in the nineteenth century, but Mr Phillips was perhaps the first. His 26 essays appeared in the Western Christian Advocate from January 1835 to April 1836, and were only gathered into a book in 1837, after his death. Apparently he is responding the the first publication of AC’s Christian System.

CTS holds two copies of an 1851 printing of this book, and i see that DCHS has also attached holdings on that record. CTS holds issues of the Western Christian Advocate from the 1840s and the 1880s, but we have not yet found the issues in which Mr Phillips first “exposes” himself on AC.

    God’s Peace to you.
